This WORDPRESS blog has been opened by someone who isn’t the person named “thabababa” (Ahmed Razib Haider Shobhon). This blogger was hacked to death on Friday night in Mirpur, Dhaka near his house allegedly by fanatic Muslims belonging to Jamaat-e-Islami’s student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir. This blog contains Bangla satires on Prophet Hazrat Muhammad, a propaganda which is unlikely Razib’s creation. Moreover, publication date of the posts are also suspicious. And despite containing such abusive contents, the posts aren’t attacked by comments, except for a ping-back! The site has no ALEXA ranking history too!

[More in Bangla:

Wearing black badges, thousands of people took part in his ‘janaza’ around 5.30pm at Shahbagh, the place where he used to chant slogans along with his friends. Razib was mainly engaged in blogging and active in Facebook. He was a outright voice against Jamaat and the war criminals.

Three days before his death, bloggers of a Shibir site named “Sonar Bangla” discussed openly about the active bloggers behind the SHAHBAGH UPRISING, a blockade, continued since February 5 demanding DEATH PENALTY of the war criminals, not less than that, after the International Crimes Tribunal the same day handed down LIFE TERM for Abdul Quader Mollah, the Jamaat’s assistant secretary general, as five counts out of six were proved beyond doubt.  The charges include genocide, rape and arson.

The prosecutors, attorney general, journalists at the court and people across the country rejected the verdict outright. Massive objection was seen on the Facebook, a popular social media in Bangladesh. Bloggers and Online Activist Network was the first organisation to announce a protest rally and procession in front of National Museum at 3pm. There were some 50 activists and bloggers at the place forming a human chain first, but soon it turned into a chain of 200 people.

Around 4:45pm, the protestors started marching towards SHABAGH INTERSECTION, some 50 yards away from the Museum gate, and OCCUPIED the place. The sat there in a rectangular and continued their slogans demanding DEATH SENTENCE FOR ALL RAZAKARS (collaborators) and BANNING JAMAAT-SHIBIR activities.

Since then, the protestors have been occupying the busiest intersection of the dense city to press home for a quick amendment to the ICT Act to allow the prosecution appeal against the whole verdict, not only against the one in which Quader Mollah was acquitted.

After a week’s protests in SHAHBAGH and other townships, the government tabled the draft bill in cabinet and later in parliament. It might be passed during Sunday’s session.

The government has assured all-out legal efforts to ensure that country is free from RAZAKARS through a strict trial; so that no government in future could release them under the president’s clemency.

Process on declaring Jamaat-Shibir outlawed is underway in the highest tier and the EC when the party is carrying out violent attacks on police and people almost every day to stop the trails of identified war criminals, including their mastermind Ghulam Azam.

BNP is still opposing the SHAHBAGH PROTEST terming it a fascist movement while JAMAAT rejects the allegation and the Shibir activists are blaming the pro-government students’ body Chhatra League for the killing of RAZIB.

On Saturday afternoon, prime minister Sheikh Hasina visited Razib’s family to console them. She, however, made a historic statement about JAMAAT’s politics and terrorism. Here’s the part quoted from bdnews24.com:

Describing Razib as the first ‘martyr’ of the Shahbagh uprising, she said, “I was apprehensive that something like this might happen, and it actually happened.”

“We had taken necessary security measures at Shahbagh. After 1971, this generation of youths was capable in reviving the nation, and an incident like this took place right at the time of the revival”, she said.

“Anyone can assume who were behind this,” she added.

Promising strong actions against Razib’s killers, the prime minister said, “I can say this much that we will not spare them.”

“We expressed solidarity from parliament with the movement. We will heed their demand and free Bangladesh from the defeated forces of 1971.”

Taking a dig at the Jamaat-e-Islami, she said, “Many claim that they are a democratic political party, a democratic force. Now it is proved that they believe in terrorism not democracy. The Jamaat-Shibir politics is based on terrorism.”

“We will do to them what is necessary. They have absolutely no right to be in politics in free Bangladesh.”

The uprising in Shahbagh has been calling for the ban of Jamaat-Shibir.

Leaders of the ruling party have also spoken in support of this demand.

The prime minister expressed her condolences for the grieving family of the slain blogger.

Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir also visited Razib’s house in the morning. He assured the family that every step would be taken to nab his killers.

Razib, an architect by profession, used to live with his brother in their house in Polashnagar. His parents, who live in Gazipur’s Kapashia, came to Polashnagar after hearing of their son’s murder.
