No social media but WordPress is active in Bangladesh

Giving rational excuses to ban all social media sites hasn’t helped the ruling government. People are outraged as the authorities first shutdown internet, and then blocked Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber, Instagram on Wednesday.

They said they wanted to avert planned subversive attacks by supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami and BNP in the wake of executions of two top war criminals — Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid and Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.

Yes, given the past experience, the government’s anticipation is rational. But why did they choose to block sites instead of strengthening surveillance? Why did the intelligence agencies fail to provide warnings and avert the previous incidents of violence in 2013 and 2014? Even the administration has shown inefficiency by failing to press charges against the accused properly.

Culture of impunity gives birth to more criminals. Bring to justice all the plotters and executors, and give them exemplary punishment!

Opposing the war crimes trials is nothing but an expression of vengeance against the independence of Bangladesh, freedom fighters and pro-liberation people of the country.

It’s unfortunate that we’ve to see the enemies of Bangladesh’s birth roaming freely even 44 years of independence — thanks to the corrupt governments and a rotten civil society.

And now that the trials are underway the campaigners have gone divided too — thanks to the evil efforts of the razakars who have their sympathisers also in the administration and the law enforcement agencies.

There have been no report of violence since 1pm on Wednesday until Thursday noon. No major arrests neither any significant raid. What are you doing cops?

It’s outrageous as well as uncomfortable for the people who need social media sites to remain active 24/7 for personal and professional reasons.

Please justify your stupidity!
